What College Students Should Do With Their Free Time

Students attending college will be in class an average of 1.7 hours per day and spend 1.6 hours per day studying. Also, a student works on average 2.6 hours each day and spends 6.8 hours sleeping. After adding these up, the normal university student has 11.3 hours every day of time to do what they want. Most university students may use their time unproductively on stuff like computer games and pool parties. Of course college is the place for people to have fun and enjoy themselves but it is also a critical time for young people. If a student can effectively plan out their day and manage their time in a useful manner, they will be far ahead of the other students who simply waste their time on foolish activities. It has also been proven that college students who apply themeselves in the educational funding area often succeed more. For example, student's who apply for weird scholarship often get ahead in college earlier on on account of significantly less economical tension.

If a student really wants to become a veterinarian, they should visit and volunteer at the neighborhood pet shelter. If you are studying to become a journalist, then get an internship at the local news station. In any case you have to invest your time and effort to help you get knowledge in your field to ensure that when you graduate you will be much more likely to obtain a great job in a great company. There are opportunities everywhere as a student. Older and more knowledgeable people would like to help students, whether they are a counselor or a manager. Ask them for help and advice and you'll be amazed at how priceless that information might be in your own life.

One of the best ways to use your free time wisely is to keep a schedule. If you don't plan out your day you are much more likely to end up playing video games or on Facebook. Even when your plans don't always work out how you planned it's still very helpful to organize your time. Personal time management is an important skill for any upcoming employee, and the ideal time for you to learn it is while attending college. Google Calendar is a wonderful tool for college students to organize their activities and remain productive.

To sum it up, you have got much more time to deal with than you feel so you have to be smart with it. If you utilize it wisely it's going to be worthwhile quickly and you'll be rewarded for your hard work. Time management is rare among students so if you can master that then you are way ahead of the pack. Don't turn into a robot and have fun with your down time, but not so much that you just waste it on unproductive activities. Ghandi once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." You have 11.3 hours every day to do just that. Good luck!
